Teaching Terrorism to Kids
It wasn’t a subject that I chose – or would have chosen – to talk to kids about.
“If the media covers terrorism is it helping the terrorists?” was the approximate translation of the original Hungarian.
And the audience? Around 300 high school children gathered for a few days in a spa town in south-western Hungary half an hour or so from the Croatian border.
Between ping-pong matches, screaming dips into a cold plunge, and an all-you-can eat bufe of Hungarian stew and sticky buns they were marshalled into a large room to hear me talk about something that none of them, thankfully, had ever experienced.
